Jane Symons, née Morshead, married James Symons (d 1851), manager and later owner of Judge Halswell's Farm at Brooklyn, from the 1840s. Together they had six children. Jane Symons managed the farm herself after the death of her husband. She later married J F F Wright, no children. In Jul 1853 she wrote to [Donald McLean?] from Goathurst Farm enquiring about land in the Manawatu.

Description: A two-storied house in a large cleared section, with a bush-clad hill behind it. The home of Mrs Jane Symons (nee Morshead), later Mrs J. F. F. Wright. The house was originally built by Judge Halswell and managed by James Symons, then purchased by Symons, who died in 1851. The same house was also depicted by S. C. Brees in the early 1840s (Residence of his Honour Judge Halswell ... No. 61). It stood on Section 28, Ohiro, approximately the modern site of Brooklyn School in Washington Avenue, Brooklyn.
