Strang, Susan Douglas, 1828-1852

Daughter of Robert Rodger Strang. Arrived with parents aboard 'Bengal Merchant' in 1840. Wife of Sir Donald McLean. Strang met McLean in Wellington in 1848 and they were engaged the following year. Their courtship was conducted largely by correspondence as McLean's work took him away from Wellington for long periods. They were married on 28 Aug 1851 and Susan McLean died in childbirth on 7 Nov 1852.
