Born in Palmerston North, 17 February 1967. Moved to Wellington in 1986 and attended Victoria University and Wellington Polytechnic. Commenced work for the Alexander Turnbull Library in 1989. Lived in various parts of Wellington including Thorndon, Northland and Flagstaff Hill. Worked at Auckland Art Gallery and Auckland War Memorial Museum.
