Taonui, Abraham, -1882

Ngā Puhi leader, prophet, historian, teacher, assessor. Son of Makoare Taonui. Wrote to James Buller from Otuaka in 1853. Thought to have signed the Treaty of Waitangi under the name of Abaraham Tautoru. See Dictionary of New Zealand Biography (Vol. 2, 1870-1900).
