Solicitor and town clerk in Nelson, not listed in Wises in 1866-69, but is listed in 1880 as living in Trafalgar Street. In 1900, is listed in Wakefield Quay. Third child and second son of artist John and his wife Jane Gully. Born in Bath, he came with his parents to New Zealand, intially to New Plymouth in 1852, moving to Nelson in 1861. Died in 1926 aged 75 years.

Description: Shows a section of Nelson Harbour in foreground, with hillside behind the part of Wakefield Quay that runs between present-day Victoria Road and Richardson Street. The scene would have been sketched from Haulashore Island, part of which can be seen in the right foreground. In 1900 Harry Vincent Gully was to own a house in this area, possibly the gabled one in the centre, which is redrawn in the left foreground. Date based on comparison with photos of same area. H. V.
