Editor Nelson Evening Mail (1960). Born in Waimea West, son of W L Palmer; married Jessie Clark in 1927. Started in journalism on Lyttelton Times and Star; reporter and sub-editor The Press 1925-1931; assistant master Wellington College 1931-1940; associate editor Nelson Evening Mail 1940-1958; acting editor 1956-1960. First secretary Nelson-Marlborough West Coast League of Local Bodies 1942-1961; president Nelson College Old Boys Association 1947-1961. Wrote centennial histories of St Michael's Church, Waimea West, and St John's Church, Wakefield. See `Who's who in NZ' 1961 7th edition.
