Description: A seated profile portrait of John King's wife Hannah (nee Hansen). Hutton calls the sketch 'An unworthy imitation of Mrs King.' The sketch is of John Williams (1827-1904) lampooning Mrs Hannah King. Marianne Williams' journal (Auckland City Library, MS 1044 p.59) states that her son John Williams dressed up as Mrs King in the Paihia Parsonage that evening. “Papa agreed to the proposal of the young men and took them with him and Mr Cotton to Te Puna! Mr Hutton, Henry and John. It blew hard ... (later) the young men very merry. John came dressed up in cap and gown and plumped out with pillows as Mrs King and Mr Hutton sketched his likeness, a lady giantess to puzzle his father when he came back with guessing what lady had been here. Description: The mission station at Te Puna, Bay of Islands, below Rangihoua Pa, seen from the side, with the beach to the left. It is set back against hills, gardens in front of it, and outbuildings alongside. It is shown as two larger single-storied buildings with hipped rooves and several smaller buildings John King was the missionary at this station from 1832 The date (written with the title below the work on the scrapbook page in pencil) has been written over, probably by Taylor in compiling the scrapbook, many years after the drawings were created. A date that appears to be 1835 (four years before Taylor arrived in New Zealand) has been written over as what appears to be 1855 (the year Taylor was overseas in England). Taylor visited this station in Sept 1839 and in January 1841. One other drawing in the scrapbook of Te Puna is dated 1839, a third is undated. Description: The mission house at Te Puna, Bay of Islands, below Rangihoua Pa, set back against hills, its garden in front of it, and outbuildings alongside. It is shown as two single-storied buildings with hipped rooves and smaller buildings between. The beach and waterfront curve around in front of the buildings and a bush-clad hill is to the left John King was the missionary at this station from 1832 A very similar view to that reproduced as a wood engraving in the Church Missionary Register for 1838. The two may have been done independently or possibly Taylor made a copy of the wood engraving. He visited Te Puna in Sept 1839 and in January 1841 according to his Journal. There is also an oil painting from a similar angle, possibly copied from the wood engraving, in the Rex Nan Kivell Collection, National Libary of Australia (Ref. no.
