Hamilton, William John Warburton, 1825-1883

Came to New Zealand as aide to Governor Fitzroy. New Zealand Company agent, surveyor and explorer of Auckland and Christchurch; secretary to Capt John Lort Stokes of "Acheron". After a time as Resident Magistrate in Wanganui, settled in Christchurch where he was active in provincial politics. See also C A Lawn `Pioneer land surveyors...'
