Also contains a summary, by Harrop, of the first 102 issues of the newspaper and a number of newspaper clippings of stories written by Harrop. Angus John Harrop was born in Hokitika in 1900 and was educated at Hokitika, Waitaki Boys' High School, Canterbury University College and Cambridge, where he gained a LittD and PhD. He commenced his journalistic career on `The Press', served on the literary staffs of the `London Daily Mail' and the`Sunday Dispatch' and from 1941 to 1953 was the news editor of the Sydney Daily Mirror's London service. He was agent in England for the University of New Zealand from 1931-1943 and for Canterbury University College 1931-1950. In 1927 he founded the `New Zealand News', a fortnightly newspaper published in London for New Zealanders in Britain and remained its editor until 1960. He was helped in this venture by his wife Hilda (nee Valentine). He was author of several books on New Zealand and contributor to the `Cambridge History of the British Empire'. Harrop died in 1963.
