Description: Survey map of the area from Waikoropupunoa Stream to Cape Maria Van Diemen and Motu Opao Island to Cape Reinga to Whangakea. Includes topographical features and handwritten descriptions of the terrain. Settlements, hills, points, streams are named. Old native cultivations, the lighthouse, tracks, wire cable and telephone lines are marked. Includes handwritten notes referring to the public utility, lighthouse or other purpose of the general Government. Gum land is marked. Includes two illustrations captioned Motu Opao, Cape Maria Van Diemen lighthouse from Herangi; and Cape Reinga. An inset map is a cross-sectional view with the caption title 'Three Kings Islets from Trig Hiriki; 14 islets visible in clear weather'. All islands have compass bearings and two have handwritten names, while 'Manawatawhi' and 'approx. 36 miles N.W. of Cape Reinga' appear as handwritten explanatory notes with the printed title. Added to this map is the following information:- 'Change of reserve (72.0. 00.) Gaz 1962 p.2118: set apart as a reserve for the preservation of flora and fauna. Gaz. 1956 p.39'. Also 'Three Kings Is. proclaimed a sanctuary under the Animals & Native Game Protection Act, 1921-1922. Gaz. 1930 p.666'. Handwritten notes refer to Motu Opao Island and Three Kings Islands.
