Adams, William Blakeway Acton, 1843-1924

Lawyer and landowner. Born at Wilden Manor, Worcestershire, the eldest son of William Adams (1811-1884). son in the Eden in 1850, educated at Nelson College. Admitted as barrister and solicitor, and then went to England to study for two years at the Inner Temple. Married a daughter of Dr T R Leadam, of London, before returning to Nelson in 1869. Changed name to Acton-Adams to avoid confusion with other Adams families in the area. See DNZB / Scholefield (Vol 1, p6)
