Recalls declaration of World War II, enlisting at Post Office in Kaikohe and going into RMT [Reserve Mechanical Transport]. Describes process of enlistment, Papakura Camp, going overseas on the `Orion' Jan 1940 with Divisional Ammunition Company and role of Divisional Ammunition Co. Recalls time in heavy repair shops in Abbassia [Egypt] and being driver for officers while at Maadi Camp. Mentions Lt Col Maguire, Commanding Officer, Divisional Ammunition and Col. Crump. Describes campaign in Western Desert (1940) and move to Greece.
