Description: Colour transparencies of holiday scenes taken by James (Jim) Watt in 1974, 1981, and circa 1980s. Photographs of a South Island holiday in May 1974 show Milford Sound (including Mount Cook Airlines plane), Fox Glacier, twin singles in a motel room, and a Infants Creek Tramway steam train 'Kaitangata' at Shantytown. People feature but are not identified. Another set of images are of an Albert Street intersection, Auckland, in 1981. A motorboat called "Rondeau" is pictured, possible in the Bay of Islands, with a yacht obscured in the background. An envelope labelled "Trip on Prelude" from 1973 contains a slide of a cartoon man looking at a projected slide reading "Our Holiday". Quantity: 15 colour original transparency/ies. Family and holiday scenes

Description: Mainly transparencies of a Comfort family holiday, circa summer 1963 to 1964. Photographs taken by a range of unidentified photographers. A number of images have captions written on the slide mounts. Locations visited include a house at 37 Kapiti Road, Paraparaumu identified as "Grandma's", a Lake Taupo rest area, Lake Rotoiti, Hamurana Springs, Taniwha Springs, Hot Water Beach [at both Rotoiti and Tarawera?], Blue Lake (Lake Tikitapu), Awakeri Springs, and a Lake Taupo campground. An unidentified woman [Esme Comfort?] appears in a number of photographs including eating at a folding table, standing on a bridge at Taniwha Springs looking down on the model boat 'Libretta', in front of a brick oven and on a wharf at Hamurana, and sitting under a lakeside beach umbrella. Also featured is the "Comforts circus" [sic] where the family's Wolseley car pulls a caravan which in turn pulls the boat 'Miss Jenny'. The boat "Miss Jenny" is seen moored in a lakeshore scene. Also includes a photograph of a "ski show" on the Blue Lake and of a group in "thug" fancy dress at a Paekakariki party [Frederick and Esme Comfort on right?]. Arrangement: Transparencies removed from original labelled envelopes and placed in archival housing. Original order maintained and any information from enclosure retained. Description: Colour transparencies of coastal views, ocean scenes, and sun rises and sun sets taken by James (Jim) Watt during his solo circumnavigation of New Zealand in his yacht 'Matariki' in 1989. Includes images of fishing boats off the coast, a cargo ship, recreational speed boats, as well as coastal views of New Zealand and sunrises and sunsets taken from on board 'Matariki'. Inscriptions: Note from depositor reads: "Jim Watt - sailing round NZ solo, 1987 - yacht 'Matariki'" Watt attempted to follow the path of Captain James Cook on this voyage. A young woman with her leg in a cast using crutches is standing in front of several power boats (frame 1); two young men (at least one a Māori) appear to have found a sunken waka (Māori boat) and are bringing it to the surface (frames 2 to 6); Māori fmilies are seen in frames 7, 8, 11 & 12); and a pākehā family have a bareque with food cooking on it (frame 9) and a woman is buttering bread rolls on a table (frame 10).
