Description: Group portrait of the New Zealand Māori dance band Tai Paul and His Pohutu Boys ready for a performance inside Tamatekapua, the meeting house at Ohinemutu, Rotorua. Taken by John Scott Studios in December 1955 and published in the 'NZ Listener' magazine on 9 December 1955. The photograph shows the band wearing white evening jackets, black bow-ties, and an evening dress, while posing with their instruments. The front row are seated behind stage booths decorated with musical notes and crowns, and a sign reading "Tai Paul and his Pohutu Boys". Band members are (left to right): Pat Montague (guitar), Vic Bartholomew (piano), Ali Brown (saxophone), Margaret Henderson (vocalist), Don McKenzie (drums), Tai Paul, Anugs Douglas (vocalist and guitar), Teddy Walker (saxophone), Oscar Maika (bass), and Napi Walker (trumpet).
