From: Evening post (Newspaper. 1865-2002) :Photographic negatives and prints of the Evening Post newspaper

Reference: PAColl-6301-77

Description: Evening Post caption on back of print reads: "The splendid new pavilion at the Hutt Bowling Club, which was opened by the Mayor of Lower Hutt (Mr P Dowse) last Saturday, in conjunction with the opening of the club's 60th season. Lying into the sun, the 18,000 [pound] pavilion contains a magnificent hall with parquet floor, kitchen facilities, locker room, secretary's office (at right), billiards room (two tables), social room, and all amenities. To assist the financing of the building members donated 3000 [pounds], and lent another 4000 [pounds]. The three mighty flagpoles at left were the gift of a member. The pavilion and the club's two full-size greens in immaculate order are virtually the centre piece in the Hutt Civic Centre, an already impressive cluster of municipal assets, which Mr Dowse promises to extend and improve. The provision of a begonia house is high the list of things to come." Taken in 1963 by a staff photographer for the Evening Post. Quantity: 1 b&w original photographic print(s). Physical Description: Silver gelatin print 7.5 x 20.2 cm
