Two people are standing at the top of the falls and a man is seated by the riverside in the right foreground. This watercolour was formerly catalogued as being the work of "Dr Devede", a misreading of the inscription on the verso "Dr [blank space filled in by a later hand with Berggren] Swede" Other Titles - Devede, Dr. Falls on the Taheke, Hokianga Dr Berggren was a Swedish botanist who visited New Zealand in 1874-1875.
