Description: Poster pastiche of the poster for the American movie "I am Legend" starring Will Smith. This version shows a young Wellington man, holding an automatic rifle over his right shoulder and a backpack in his left hand. He walks beside an Alsatian dog through the canyon of a city street, lit from behind by a fire of destruction. The poster was designed to find the young man a girlfriend, and was a component part of one of three similar campaigns for different individuals (involving billboards, billstickers, hoardings and radio coverage). Description: Display card with cardboard stand on verso shows a woman in a tailored knee-length dress and white gloves, holding a Dalmatian dog on a lead, and posing in front of central Manhattan skyscrapers, including the Empire State Building. Words printed on the verso: "This card is loaned for display purposes by courtesy of the makers of Manhattan coats and frocks, D H Blackie Ltd., Dunedin". Date estimated from the style of the dress shown. "Manhattan" frocks were being advertised in New Zealand newspaper from as early as 1939 see "Press" (Christchurch), 31 January 1939, page 4. Description: The title reads 'America 10 years on - 'A traveler at the airport finds that he has appeared on the 'No-fly list' because he was heard to say 'the new Freedom Tower has a sort of "ironic" name. Context: The very heavy security at American airports as a result of the terrorist attack on the Twin Towers in New York on the 11th September 2001. A 105-story skyscraper is being constructed in the northwest corner of the World Trade Center site, occupying the location where the original 8-story 6 World Trade Center once stood. Context: The Twin Towers of the World Trade Centre in New York, the world's tallest from 1971 to 1973, were destroyed by plane hijackers as part of a 2001 plot by al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden. Now, Saudi billionaire Prince Alwaleed bin Talal has launched a project to build the world's tallest tower in the Red Sea city of Jeddah. And he plans to use the local construction giant Bin Laden Group to build the tower, which will soar more than 1000 metres into the sky.
