Description: Engraving artist identified as Arnold Machin. On the obverse, Queen Elizabeth riding a horse sidesaddle to her left. Around the circumference are the words 'Elizabeth II DG REG FD'. On the reverse is the crown of Edward, Ampulla and golden spoon, with swirling leaves and flowers around the circumference. There is no demonination inscribed. The coin's edge is milled Title supplied by Library. Issued to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Queen's accession to the throne in 1952. The coin had a face value of twenty-five new pence. Because it was primarily a commemorative coin rather than being intended to circulate, it was not considered necessary to include a mark of value in the inscription. The Ampulla in the British Crown Jewels is a hollow, gold, eagle-shaped vessel from which the anointing oil is poured by the Archbishop of Canterbury at the anointing of a new British sovereign at their coronation.
