Description: Shows the face of a cliff with waterfall, above a river. Plate 162 in Domeny de Rienzi's book. In the French edition, Danvin is inscribed as the copyist, and Boisseau as the engraver. Description: A tall rocky peak, close to a coral reef, with an island in the background. Two naked Tahitian men are on a rock in the left foreground and there are coconut palms and other vegetation at the base of the rock. Based on an ink drawing by Jules LeJeune, artist with Duperrey during his 1824-1826 visit to the Pacific. The original drawing has the title 'Vue du piton de Borabora, pres du pied. Il a plus de 200 pieds debout, et il faut gravir une montagne de 300 L [?] avant d'y parvenir'. The original drawing is in the Bibliotheque du Service Historique de la Marine, Vincennes, Paris (MSA4211). The Library has a photograph, neg 116082 1/2. LeJeune's title can be translated as 'View of the peak of Borabora, near its foot. It is more than 200 feet tall and it is necessary to climb a mountain of 300 [?] before reaching this point'. The original drawing has only one Tahitian man in the left foreground, and includes three faintly sketched in canoes to the left of the peak.
