Travel in New Zealand

Description: Transparency slides of Mr E G Williams' (Edmund Gardner Williams') travel in New Zealand in 1959. This sheet of slides includes views of and near the Chateau Tongariro (including the entrance and the bowling green at the Chateau), looking towards Mount Ruapehu (including red lichen on rocks), looking towards Mount Ngauruhoe, the Desert Road, Turangi, and Lake Taupo (including fumaroles and sulphur near Lake Taupo). Slides on this sheet are numbered 300-[325] with gaps for those removed for lectures on New Zealand. Arrangement: Mr Williams transferred slides (nos. 300-301, 303, 310, 318-319) showing scenes in area around Mounts Ruapehu and Ngauruhoe. These were taken as part of a representative collection on New Zealand for various lectures which he gave when he returned to England. The lecture series are filed in later sequences.
