Description: Album of photographs probably taken by Corporal Stuart McLean when he was with the 2NZEF in the Middle East, 1941-1942. Photographs include everyday life, monuments and ancient sites in Beirut, Baalbek, Homs (now Hims), Aleppo (now Halab), and parts of Syria. Scenes associated with the various campaigns in the Middle East and North Africa, include one of Nissen huts in Syria, machine gunners and sweeping for landmines in the Western desert, captured enemy guns, the wreck of a Messerschmitt Bf 109 (ME 109), some of the 74,000 prisoners taken at El Alamein, and parades and medal presentation (seen from a distance) after the North African Campaign.
