This image was reproduced in Orbell's publication 'Birds of Aotearoa: A natural and cultural history', published by Reed Books in 2003. Annotations on the reverse relate to page numbers and chapters. Description: Writing pad of 36 leaves shows a reproduction of Keulemans' "North-Island kiwi, Apteryx Mantelli", viewed from the side, with two others in the background. This image is "reproduced by courtesy of the Dominion Museum, from the 'Birds of New Zealand' by Sir Walter Buller". The image is framed along the top and sides with an illustrative border of native flowers - kowhai, pohutukawa, fern, and red berries. The image is similar to the "Apteryx Bulleri" at reference number PUBL-0012-47, rather than the "Apteryx mantelli" image at PUBL-0134-358. Various names seem to have been used interchangeably for the North Island Brown kiwi: Apteryx mantelli, Apteryx australis or (earlier usage)Apteryx bulleri. Quantity: 1 album(s) Album(s).
