Description: Scrapbook, creator unknown, containing postcards and clippings from newspapers and other publications, mainly concerning gardening and the keeping of domestic poultry in Auckland, as well as notes on fruit trees and rough sketch plan of a garden. Also, some information on diseases, and clippings of photographs. Included is a school certificate for Kenneth Johnstone issued by the Auckland Board of Education for 9 Sep 1891. There is a foreword from the proprietor Les Batkin, photographs of the interior of the brooding house, the enclosures for pullets, the Harrison "Perfect" brooder made of galvanised iron and crimp wire, an aerial view of the farm, price lists for white leghorns, black orpingtons, Rhode Island reds, barred Plymouth Rocks. There are pages advertising modern appliances such as drip nipples, water fountains, feed hoppers, water valves; and a photograph of the Bromley Park Midget, an enclosure for those who wish to raise fewer than 30 chickens. Description: Aerial photograph taken by Whites Aviation showing Prospect Road in Glen Eden, Auckland. Taken on 14 June 1956. In the centre of the image are hen houses on poultry farms along Prospect Road. In the background, on the ridge, is the Titirangi Primary School and the School for the Deaf. Prospect Road was renamed Rosier Road from February 1969. From 1942 to 1960, the Department of Education ran a residential School for the Deaf in the former Hotel Titirangi building.
