Description: Photographs relating to Waikakahi homestead called "The Valley." Includes - A view of the house. Two interior views of glasshouses. Two views of the lake. Two views of the harvest of 1918. A large house called "Downlands." Waikakahi Station was purchased by John and Allan McLean in 1866. In 1880 Allan McLean became sole owner of the property. The house was built in about 1874. In 1899 the station was purchased by the government and broken up into small farms, though Allan McLean retained the house and gardens.
