Description: A stylised illustration of a Tahitian woman standing in water, with a flower in her hair. The title text has been added at top left. Image is probably based on a photograph by Life photographer Eliot Elisofon in 1954, of a woman fixing her hair in a river in French Polynesia. This image was also used on a poster by Air New Zealand (See Art + Object auction catalogue for 25 October 2012, lot 285, illustrated page 20). Description: Pamphlet promoting TEAL flights to Tahiti front panel shows a stylised scene with a pink and white striped canopy circular table where a smiling moustached sailor (possibly French) holds a wine glass and bottle. At the left a woman in a bikini lies sunbathing. There is a French poodle at lower left. This side also shows a colour photograph of a couple in a plane. The verso shows sepia photographs of island scenes, and a Tahitian couple in costume, waving. The design is possibly by Linwood Lipanovic. One side displayed in "Island style: Dancing the Pacific". Description: Shows two figures. At lower right the back of a man in Tahitian costume seated on the ground. He looks towards the other figure, a woman in traditional costume, dancing with a hibiscus flower in her left hand. The TEAL logo is at top right. This poster may have been printed at the studio of Matt Chote; it is seen hanging on the wall of his studio in a photo in "Te Ao Hou", June 1959, page 29. This image has been used on a brochure housed at Eph-A-AVIATION-TEAL-1950s; the brochure (assumed to date from around the same time as this poster) advertises Solent flights to Tahiti.
