This implies that the achievement may be an empty one. Because of Russia's involvement in the Afghanistan war, and American-British calls for a boycott of the 1980 Moscow Olympic Games, the New Zealand government withdrew its support for the athletes' team to go there. Title caption reads "New high jump record - disallowed - foot assisted". Relates to Dick Quax being evicted from the Commonwealth Games village in 1974 for writing an unsanctioned newspaper article.
