Three Aussie men in black singlets and surrounded by flies lean on the counter with their beers while a blond barmaid looks on. One of the men complains that he is sick of the New Zealanders doing the haka all the time, a second man opines that they should reserve it for wins and the third man reckons that the Kiwis should get a break because they should be allowed to do the haka sometimes. A sign for George Street is attached to a house wall at the extreme right. Members of the group are making a bucket of "bull" (alcoholic drink made from an old sugar bag which is soaked and fermented). European patrons come and go from a hotel in the background, displaying a sign of a kangaroo. A fishseller at the right carries a basket of fish on his head, and a female aboriginal carrying a baby on her back, has a fish in her right hand.
