Māori Land Development Scheme

Native Land Development Scheme

Scheme established by Sir Apirana Ngata in 1929, which provided Government funding to Maori landowners to develop the physical infrastructure of their farms. This encouraged the amalgamation of land titles into single administrative structures. Specific local schemes were established in variuos parts of New Zealand in the early 1930s.
