"All White?" Australia. 16 June 2010

Date: 2010

From: Hubbard, James, 1949-: Digital caricatures and cartoons

Reference: DCDL-0014589

Description: A kangaroo surrounded by beercans flops in drunken shame and humiliation in a pub with its head in a pool of beer. A kiwi appears at the bar door and blows a vuvuzela yelling 'Hiya girls! How's things? All White?' (play on 'alright' and 'All White') On the counter lies a newspaper with headlines reading 'Satirical UK football site labels Aussies "Sheilaroos"' and 'Kiwis in gritty draw'. Refers to the dubbing of the Socceroos the "Sheilaroos" by an English newspaper and refers also to Australia calling New Zealand the shittiest team in the tournament. Australia then got thrashed by Germany on June 14th and the All Whites made a remarkable draw against Slovakia (and then again against Italy!). Quantity: 1 digital cartoon(s).
