Description: Contains contact sheets of New Zealand scenes, circa 1990s to 2000s. Photographs taken by Les Cleveland. Some contact prints have been printed commercially by Wellington Photographic Supplies and Digital Imaging Service FDi. Buildings are photographed at locations including Ophir and surrounding area, Dunedin, Wellington Region, Mangaweka, and Tokaanu. There are also a number of photographs of Māori buildings (whare, [pūwhara?]), painted sculptures with text in te reo Māori [Wellington Region?], and, in Porirua, carved figures commemorating Te Rauparaha. People and events covered include Donna Cleveland and her children Max and Maddy and unidentified people at a Harley-Davidson motorbike event in Turangi. Manhole covers and graffiti on buildings, likely in Wellington [Cuba Street?], are another area of focus. Also includes a hand drawn map of Glenorchy and the surrounding area, notes on the Otago Settlers' Musuem's holdings of John Leslie McIndoe material, and a list, likely of locations photographed by Cleveland. Description: Ring binder storing photographs of Wellington people, businesses, buildings and streets taken by Les Cleveland between 2002 and 2005. Contains 35mm negative strips in sleeves and contact prints as well as interleaved handwritten notes on the content of the photographs, with information on subjects, locations, and people. Photographs include Buckle Street Barracks, buildings on Taranaki Street, musicians busking on Lambton Quay, Bank of New Zealand building (at the intersection of Willis Street and Lambton Quay), Nada Bakery Van [Tawa?] rear views of Cuba Street buildings, and the interior of a fabric store [Jesse Street?]. There are numerous photographs relating to Tonks Avenue and these include buildings and sheds, gardens, residents, and a cat on a TV set. Photographs also show the Hutt River Mouth and a window display in Petone showing a male mannequin in the window of an antique store which Cleveland has titled “Unknown Warrior”. Also the interior of a Pac N' Save supermarket at an unknown location. Cleveland family scenes include Peter, Mary, and Les Cleveland. Les and Mary's grandchild Max Cleveland is photographed at a skate park on a skateboard. Also contains photographs of unidentified people. Title transcribed from item. Arrangement: Prints and negatives originally stored in a ring binder labelled "WELLINGTON 2" on the spine. Quantity: 1 album(s) containing 29 b&w negative strips and eight contact sheets. Physical Description: 35mm film strips, contact sheets, and holograph notes. Processing information: Due to the high likelihood of the presence of PVC in the plastic covering of the original ring binder, the photographic materials were removed and placed in a new binder that met with the Library's conservation standards. Description: Contains photographic prints showing a range of subjects and locations relating to Les Cleveland's life, 1939 to circa 2007. Photographs taken by Les Cleveland and other unidentified photographers. Includes photographs and images relating to World War Two, photographs taken on Cleveland family trips overseas including in Portugal and the United States of America (Washington D.C. and New York City), and Cleveland family scenes in New Zealand including Donna Cleveland and her children Max and Maddie (Les Cleveland's grandchildren). A sequence of photographs shows author Michael Jackson's book launch on the 29th August 1997 in Palmerston North, with Les Cleveland appearing in one photograph. Photographs taken on the West Coast of New Zealand include photographs relating to mining, buildings, meatshooting, tramping trips with unidentified friends, and bush. A laser print of a nude of Mary Cleveland, taken circa 1970, is also included. Les Cleveland is photographed beside a river [circa 1940s to 1950s]. A modern print of a woman reclining with a fan, her dress falling off her shoulder, likely from circa 1900s, is unattributed. Photographic ephemera includes original print wallets, photographer's notes for development, and a paper fold used to keep a set of prints together. Title supplied by Library. Arrangement: Prints arrived at the library in a file box in no discernible order. Some were loose while others were in photo wallets or kept together by folds of paper.
