Description: Railway trains, locomotives, and carriage interiors in New Zealand, Britain and North America. The Volcanic Plateau and Wairakei geothermal project. Most of the album shows ships on Auckland Harbour and at the wharves, including the launch 'Manu', used to provide "Captain Cook Cruises" circa 1980, and the refurbished waterfront and cast iron gates near the Ferry Terminal Building. There are also shots of people taking the sun in this area. The final section records some of the demolition and rebuilding in Auckland during the 1980s. Rationalist House also features. Description: The tug Duco, photographed from the steamer Corinna while she was towing that vessel into Wellington Harbour. A barque, sailing under topsails only, may be seen in the background. Photograph taken Thursday 6 January 1898 by Margaret Shaen. The Corinna, on which Constance Astley and Margaret Shaen were travelling from Nelson to Wellington, broke her propellor shaft after leaving Picton. The Duco (which had just towed the barque in the background through Queen Charlotte Sound from Picton) and the Duchess then towed her into Wellington.
