Te Kiteroa (Wellington, N.Z.)

A large Italianate house with tower, which stood at the northern end of Clifton Terrace and was built ca 1875-76, for Nathaniel Werry. When it was auctioned in 1897 it was bought by the Blundells (possibly Henry Blundell Jnr) after which it was known as 'Cleremont'. Demolished in 1922.

Description: The house `Te Kiteroa' (later known as `Cleremont'), on Clifton Terrace, Wellington, photographed by the Burton Brothers, circa 1884. Note on back of file print reads " `Antrim House', Boulcott Street, built after the style of this." Note on back of file print reads "In `Colonial Architecture' by John Stackpoole, plate 150, page 177" "The timber quoins on the corners of the house, the brackets supporting the roof, and the elaborate balustrades are all typical of the Italianate style."
