Description: Photographic prints of concrete buildings and structures in the North and South Islands of New Zealand, taken by Geoffrey or Jocelyn Thornton 1965 to 1990s. Some prints are labelled on the reverse; some have been marked up as if for publication. There are often several images of the same building or structure from different perspectives. Includes photographs of commercial and residential buildings, bridges, retaining walls, dams, and structures such as mine cyanide tanks, water towers, and gun emplacements. Date range is taken from the few dates annotated on the back of prints or on negative enclosures. Title supplied by Library. Arrangement: Prints were together with negatives in labelled glassine bags, arranged in largely alphabetical order by name of farm or station, in a small wooden drawer. Bags were labelled with the farm or station name and type of building on the left-hand side of the bag and the location on the right-hand side. Quantity: 375 b&w original photographic print(s). 6 colour original photographic print(s). Transfers: Negatives separated from prints are at Library references 1/4-136601 to 1/4-136990 inclusive, and 35mm-114101. Transparencies separated from the prints are at PA12-4281.. Description: Transparencies of houses and homesteads on stations or farms and in towns and cities, taken by Geoffrey or Jocelyn Thornton, 1970s to 1992. Includes Tauroa in Havelock North, Meadowbank at Irwell, slab hut at The Levels, Springvale and Kinloch at Little River, and a homestead possibly at Lake Coleridge (original enclosure has a question mark after the location). Title supplied by Library. Arrangement: Transparencies were in labelled glassine bags in a sequence of mainly negatives and prints and some transparencies labelled "Houses". Four transparencies were accompanied in the bags by prints. Quantity: 8 colour original transparency/ies. Transfers: Prints separated from the transparencies are at Library reference PAColl-10686-05, print numbers 159, 160, 197, and 198.. Processing information: Transparencies were removed from glassine bags and rehoused, and prints separated from the transparencies and rehoused for reasons of preservation and appropriate storage.
