Images begin on the RMS Ionic, travelling from Southampton to New Zealand, including scenes of shipboard life; Panama Canal; various passengers and crew on the ship. Shipboard staff include Captain (also called Commander) Jones, Chief Engineer Scott, Purser Gregson, and Dr Irving. Passengers include Mrs Guthrie-Smith and her daughter Barbara Guthrie-Smith.
