Whare tupuna at Maketū Marae in Kāwhia township, which was named in honour of Hoturoa, and was opened in 1962. Auau ki te Rangi was the father of Hoturoa (the navigator of the Tainui waka), who is said to have been buried on the small puke (hill) behind the marae when the waka landed at Maketū. Formerly described as Auau-ki-te-Rangi.
