Description: Photographic prints of images from three rolls of film, taken by Judith Binney between May and Oct 1995. Photographs were taken at a range of locations in New Zealand, particularly Ratana/Parewanui/Aorangi areas and the East Coast. A few taken at Hokianga Island, Bay of Plenty and there is a set of 10 Binney has identified as 'Hokianga & Ohiwa, Te Karaka' (these may be Hokianga Island area in the Ohiwa Harbour). Also some images also taken during a trip to Sydney, Australia, mainly buildings excavations at Susannah Place. Also a set showing the special flax paper cases, made by Maureen Lander (and possibly also J Bassett - as both feature in the images), for Binney's book 'Redemption Songs'. Also a snap of Binney, and another two showing Binney and an unidentified woman. Corresponding negatives at 35mm-99053-99059, 99067-99076 and 99080-99089. *Images taken in the Ratana/Parewanui/Aorangi areas comprise: -Small meeting house 'Tikaraina' next to T W Ratana's house (at Ratana?) -unidentified building labelled 'Mataatua' and 'Takitimu' -unidentified graveyard and church exterior, including grave of the Ngati Apa prophet Atareta Mererikiriki Ropiha -Sign marking the settlement of the Ngati Apa people of Parewanui -'Maniaihu' meeting house at Aorangi (Hapu: Ngati Kauwhata) *Images taken on the East Coast comprise: -Meeting house labelled 'Ko Teao Marama' at Roimata Marae, Kutarere, Bay of Plenty. Iwi: Whakatohea. -Framed 1992 letter of pardon for Mokomoko from Governor General Judith Tizard, at St Stephen's Church, Opotiki -Church interior with stained glass windows, labelled by Binney as 'The church house on the coast, near Te Kaha' -exterior views of 'Porourangi' meeting house, Porourangi Marae, Ruatoria, and the nearby church. Hapu: Te Whanau a Karuai.
