Te Whakarewa

Te Whakarewa appear to be part of the northern Taranaki tribes, and probably closely related to Ngati Tama, Ngati Mutunga, Ngati Rahiri and Ngati Kaitangata. Part of this group migrated to Kapiti in the heke Tama Te Uaua about the year 1832.

Rangipito use's the term "Uruuru-purumu" to describe the 19th century musket used by Maori.
