Mitiwai

Mitiwai is a particular section of Ngāti Kaitangata and Ngāti Tūpāwhenua tribes. Originally from Onaero, Taranaki, a large section of this tribe migrated to Waikanae in the 1820s under their leaders Te Haukaione, Hone Tuhata Patuhiki, Te Koihua and others.
