Description: One page shows general views of sports held at the New Zealand Military Hospital at Walton on Thames in 1917. There are personal photographs of Audrey Beeton taken in the Lake district on holiday with a friend, and others of her family at St George's Hill. Two groups of photographs record health services for children. They may relate to T B and its control, or be something like health camps. Description: Annette Huntington born Lower Hutt 1949. Recalls commencing training as a nurse in 1987 at National Women's Hospital, Auckland, gaining her orthopaedic experience at Middlemore Hospital and graduating in 1970. Talks about eighteen months work as a staff nurse in theatres; marriage, move back to Wellington and birth of baby. Describes expereince as a school nurse at Wellington East Girls' College in 1978. Trained as a Plunket nurse at Moncrieffe Street in 1980 and recalls concerns about her children and childcare. Recalls experience as a Plunket nurse at Kilbirnie, Lyall Bay and Newtown and describes the different diversity of cultures in Kilbirnie and Newtown. Notes Newtown had Samoan and Polynesian mums and talks about the circumstances for many of these mothers. Refers to Bachelor of Nursing Degree at Victoria University which commenced in 1985 and backgrounds decision to attend course, completing it in three years. Refers to lecturers, Michael Clinton, Natalie Allen, Merian Litchfield and Maureen Laws. Recalls becoming a research assistant in her second year and in the third year refers to finance from the Diabetic Society to develop some research. Talks about interest in teaching and gaining position to teach in the Advanced Diploma in Nursing (A.D.N.) at Wellington Polytechnic. Describes the interview process and mentions Marg Robins, Judith Christensen and Fran Richardson. Gives credit to the support received from Margaret McDougall. Talks about the courses, handbooks, the curriculum and the `funny little blue book' (registers). Continues to talk about research projects e.g hospice nursing; childhood illnesses and survey of wharfies regarding healthy diet and other topics. Talks about the change in research teaching over the last decade. Discusses own academic pursuits and refers to thesis for PH D, `Women as nurses nursing women in the Gynaecological Ward. A feminist interpretative study'. Description: Contains the Association's records including minutes, correspondence, subject files, historical papers, newsletters and other publications, and recordings from the Guides New Zealand centennial oral history project. Source of title - Supplied title In 1907 Lieutenant-Colonel Cossgrove formed a Peace Scouts Group for girls in Christchurch and similar groups were formed in Dunedin, Auckland and in a number of smaller centres. The Peace Scouts continued until 1922, when it was decided to combine with the newly formed Girl Guides groups. In 1923 a Girl Guide company from Southland registered with the London Headquarters and from this date there was a steady increase in both the number of Girl Guide companies formed and the number of members. Other - "The use of the enamel basin and jug (and the tin bath on the right of the picture) suggests that this household does not have a plumbed bathroom - or perhaps she was just very muddy from playing outside."
