Description: Transparencies of mainly pictorial views in New Zealand, taken by Geoffrey Thornton or Jocelyn Thornton. Each slide mount is annotated with the name or brief description, and/or the location, of the view. Dates and photographer name are sometimes annotated. Views and locations annotated on the slide mounts include Mount Cook, Lake Ohau, Wally and Sheona Boag's house, studio and garden at Millar's Flat, view from plane of Marlborough and mountains, Springvale in Central Otago, Lake Wanaka, Jokendale Park at Alexandra under snow, Rakaia Gorge, sunset over Lyall Bay from the Thornton house in Wellington, Otago Harbour, garden path and kowhai tree of Thornton house in Wellington, the road in to Maungapohatu, southerly over Southern Alps near Arthur's Pass, Wedderburn near Oturehua, southerly approaching East Cape lighthouse, view from Baines' house at Macandrew Bay in Dunedin, Matthew, Don and Jocelyn bringing in the fish at Hihi beach, view from the Singleton house at Tangiterōria, and view from Pencarrow Head. Title transcribed from item. Most transparencies are undated. Arrangement: Transparencies were stored in two small plastic slide cases, capable of holding approximately 30- 40 mounted transparencies each, with the transparencies stored flat in two stacks, both labelled "Pictorial". There was no apparent order. Quantity: 24 colour original transparency/ies. Physical Description: Colour transparencies in plastic and cardboard slide mounts. Processing information: Slides have been removed from container and put into archival pockets, following the original order, from left to right and top to bottom.

Views and locations annotated on the slide mounts include Stewart Island, view from Stony Creek Road in Mackenzie country, Ida Valley in Central Otago, bridge over Wedderburn, scene from State Highway 85 at Blackstone Hill, falls on Mangapoike River, Te Reinga Falls on Ruakituri River at Te Reinga, Lindis Pass, Ngakawau River from walkway, and Maruia Falls after a flood. Title transcribed from item. Arrangement: Transparencies were stored in a small plastic slide case, capable of holding approximately 30- 40 mounted transparencies, with the transparencies stored flat in two stacks, labelled "Mainly Pictorial".
