The flour mill
Date: [19--]
Reference: MS-Papers-8951
Description: Reminiscence of the flour mill in the Manuherikia Valley, Omakau. This history could have been written by Gordon Glassford Leask as there may have been a family connection with the mill. A Mr S Leask was on the founding committee of the Tiger Dale Flour Milling Company in 1873. The history covers the period from 1869 when the idea of a mill in the Omakau area was first mooted, through to 1966 when the mill site became the headquarters of a weedspraying business. The narrative details the changing ownership of the mill, the local personalities involved in the running the business and the commerical transactions surrounding it.
