Description: Transparencies of mainly pictorial views in New Zealand, taken by Geoffrey Thornton or Jocelyn Thornton. Each slide mount is annotated with the name or brief description, and/or the location, of the view. Dates appear on each slide mount. Views and locations annotated on the slide mounts include Stewart Island, view from Stony Creek Road in Mackenzie country, Ida Valley in Central Otago, bridge over Wedderburn, scene from State Highway 85 at Blackstone Hill, falls on Mangapoike River, Te Reinga Falls on Ruakituri River at Te Reinga, Lindis Pass, Ngakawau River from walkway, and Maruia Falls after a flood. Title transcribed from item. Arrangement: Transparencies were stored in a small plastic slide case, capable of holding approximately 30- 40 mounted transparencies, with the transparencies stored flat in two stacks, labelled "Mainly Pictorial". There was no apparent order. Quantity: 10 colour original transparency/ies. Physical Description: Colour transparencies in plastic and cardboard slide mounts. Processing information: Slides have been removed from container and put into archival pockets, following the original order, from left to right and top to bottom.

'The New Zealand Heritage of Farm Buildings', Auckland N.Z. Reed Methuen, 1986. Title supplied by Library. Arrangement: Each negative and accompanying print were together in glassine bags, and transparencies were individually stored in glassine bags, arranged in largely alphabetical order by name of farm or station in a wooden drawer, in a sequence labelled "Accommodation". Bags were labelled with the farm or station name and type of building on the left-hand side of the bag and the location on the right-hand side. Some bags held negatives without corresponding prints. Quantity: 107 b&w original negative(s). 105 b&w original photographic print(s). 26 colour original transparency/ies 120. 6 colour original photographic print(s). 6 colour original negative(s). 3 b&w original negative(s) 120. Physical Description: Colour and black and white photographic negatives and prints, and colour transparencies. Transfers: Prints separated from the negatives are at Library reference PAColl-10686-01. Transparencies are at Library references PA12-3783 to PA12-3785. Negatives are at Library references 1/4-132733 to 1/4-132845, and 35mm-109276 to 35mm-109278.. Processing information: Negatives and transparencies were separated from the prints and rehoused for reasons of preservation and appropriate storage.
