Description: Album of photographs relating to members of the Student Christian Movement in New Zealand who attended conferences and camps between 1922 and 1935. The only person identified in captions was Dr John Raleigh Mott, an American who was closely involved with establishing the Student Christian Movement all around the world, and who attended the New Zealand leaders' conference at Waikanae in 1926. Two others have been identified by a family friend. They are the Rev. Herbert Newell, and Eaton Hurley. Conferences and camps were held all over New Zealand, including Ashburton (1922-23); Solway (1923-24, and 1926-27); Waimate (1924-25); Cambridge (1925-26); Dr. Mott's leaders' conference at Waikanae (1926); Brighton, Hutt Park and Campbell's Bay (all held in 1927); Campbell's Bay and Brighton (in 1928); Feilding (1930-31, and 1934-35); Bombay (1932-33); and Geraldine (1933-34). There are also photographs of the World Student Christian Federation Conference in Java in 1933. Description: Photographs taken by Albert Percy Godber between 1915 and 1916. Many of the images show various aspects of logging in Piha and Karekare. Views include the Piha Tramway, bush railway inclines, scenes of lumbermen cutting down kauri trees and cross-cutting felled trees, transportation of logs by bullock teams and horse-drawn rail wagons, the Piha timber camp and mill and men at everyday activities in camp buildings and in their workmen's huts. Other sections of the album show views of Petone, and Godber's family (his wife, Laura Godber, and two children, Phyllis and William (Bill)); views of the central North Island; farming in the Mendip Hills (Canterbury); and views of Trentham. Taken mainly by unidentified photographer(s). Contains images of Unwin drinking at smoking with friends and at parties. Two images show Unwin in a [Hawaiian?] costume (one of which is taken by Leica Photos, Hastings). In another image he is recording children on a portable audio device at a party [association with the Kiwi Concert Party?]. One image of Unwin and an unidentified man taken by Valerie Studios (Wellington). Also contains miscellaneous images, circa 1920s-1950s.
