Description: Shows the central conductor as seen from behind, with the orchestra arranged in front of him. In the background is an organ, probably the organ of the Wellington Town Hall. Date suggested by the donor. The image was used on issues of the periodical "Clef" which started in 1951, but it had originally been drawn some years before, and used as letterhead for the Wellington Symphony Orchestra. Description: Photographs of the National Orchestra of the New Zealand Broadcasting Service, and conductor Igor Stravinsky, during a rehearsal in the Wellington Town Hall, taken in 1961 by Tom Shanahan. Margaret Sicely is visible in two of the photographs. She is immediately left of the harp. Prints are numbered on the reverse and also read "Tibbles". One print is stamped "Photo: Tom Shanahan". Part of the Archive of New Zealand Music. Source of title - Title supplied by Library. Margaret Sicely identified in photographs by the donor. Historical notes - Stravinsky visited Wellington in 1961 and conducted the National Orchestra in a performance of his 'Firebird' suite.
