Presented to the Library of the Royal Colonial Institute by Sir Frederick Young, vice-president, and son of G. F. Young, an active member of the New Zealand Company. Enclosed note says that the ferns were "collected by Colenso on one of his trips across Ruahine Ranges" and that some were exhibited at Ongaonga Museum until the 1990s. Note that donor thinks that the specimens were collected by John Drummond for Colenso, rather than being collected by Colenso himself. See 91-147-2/02 for copies of letters from Colenso to Drummond.
