Physical Description: Pencil and watercolour on paper ca 375 x 276 mm; carbon print (leaf-rubbing) of a poplar leaf Provenance: Prepared for the New Zealand Company in 1842 by the artist. Several lithographed as illustrations to E. J. Wakefield's "Illustrations to Adventure in New Zealand" published London, 1845. Presented to the Library of the Royal Colonial Institute by Sir Frederick Young, vice-president, and son of G. F. Young, an active member of the New Zealand Company. Note that donor thinks that the specimens were collected by John Drummond for Colenso, rather than being collected by Colenso himself. See 91-147-2/02 for copies of letters from Colenso to Drummond.
