Description: Transcripts of diaries of Charles Robson and his daughter Amy Robson. Those of Charles Robson contain brief entries detailing his life on lighthouses around New Zealand from 1872 to 1903. Amy Robson then a 16 year old, recorded a trip on the Hinemoa around the Snares and southern part of of the South Island, arranged by the Government Light Service for her father and family upon his retirement. Album relating to New Zealand lighthouses

Description: Scrapbook album compiled by Eileen Tiller relating to lighthouses and the Hansen family, covering a time period of circa 1887 to 2013, likely compiled over a period from the 1980s to the 2000s. Photographers largely unidentified but many photographs are likely taken by Hansen family members. Includes typescript histories, clippings, photocopies of Anders Hansen’s keeper’s log, and photographs from lighthouses and their surrounding areas and associated buildings. The majority of the photographs are from the period 1900 to 1910. The lighthouses featured are Cape Campbell, Godley Head, Akaroa Head, Moeraki, Taiaroa Head, Cape Saunders, Nugget Point, Waipapa Point, Dog Island, Centre Island, Puysegur Point, Cape Foulwind, and Farewell Spit. Identified people include Anders Hansen, Elizabeth Hansen, Lena Hansen, Dorothy Ridley, Mr and Mrs Brown, Annie Hansen, George Hansen, Mary Hansen, and Mrs Sutherland (of Milford Sound). Album also contains photographs of unidentified people, boating images, and photographs of lighthouse equipment. Album possibly includes photographs of Orongorongo Station. Another area of focus are photographs and clipping relating to the government lighthouse tenders ‘Hinemoa’, ‘Stella’, and ‘Tutanekai’ as well as Captain John Neale and Captain John Bollons. Provisions depots on Auckland Island and Kermadec Group and the shift from manned to automated of lighthouses are also covered. Arrangement: Scrapbook album arrived at the Library containing loose items and with items stored in an envelope stuck to the front cover. Processing information: Material that was loose or stored in inappropriate housing was separated from album for conservation and housing purposes.

Description: Photograph album showing views of Flaxbourne Station, Marlborough, taken by an unidentified photographer circa 1920s. Scenes include large areas of tussock grassland, the Flaxbourne River, the main road passing through the station, Flaxbourne Homestead (seen in the distance), Lake Grassmere, Ben More trig station, Lake Elterwater, Cape Campbell and Clifford Bay. The last photograph in the album is one taken by the Burton Brothers in the 1880s, showing Willis Street, Wellington, taken from the Post Office tower.
