Motupipi

Motupipi (Kainga)

A papakainga occupied by members of Ngati Rarua and Ngati Hinetuhi. The occupants of Motupipi formerly lived at another papakainga named Tata (exact location unknown) and removed themselves to the present when the chief Te Kawa and several others drowned in an accident. The elder chief Te Aupori and his son Philamon appear to be the principals.
