A church (Santo Domingo) is in the right foreground Exhibited at 'The world was all before me; journals and watercolours of Edward Ashworth from the collections of Alexander Turnbull Library', Curator was Jill Trevelyan. The exhibition title is taken from Ashworth's journal where he misquotes from John Milton's poem "Paradise Lost": "The world was all before me / where to choose my place of rest". At the National Library Gallery, 27 April - 29 July 2001. Description: Hand-drawn chart of the bay of Gibraltar with additional holograph annotations, showing the position of the military and naval force of France and Spain present during the last siege of that garrrison (1783). The chart is illustrated, with watercolour enhancements and line drawings. It is not known whether the map was drawn in 1783 or later, or who the cartographer was. Also, hand-drawn and colour map of the city and peninsula of Macao, China, attributed to Edward Ashworth, showing layout of the town and key to main points of interest Quantity: 1 folder(s) (two pieces).
