Description: Consists: - a letter written by Thomas Good to his cousin, dated 18 Oct 1882, from Oeo, Taranaki; - two diaries kept by Samuel Clarke Good for part of his voyage to New Zealand, 12 Nov-17 Mar 1884; - an account for Mr Goode [sic] for a subscription to the Worcester Herald, 5 Jan 1811. Accompanying material - Photocopy of a photograph of Aston Court supplied by Chris Dell (who purchased Aston Court in 1995). A holograph of Samuel Clarke Good's trip to New Zealand may be found at library reference MS-Papers-4427. Thomas Good spent his childhood at the Good family home at Aston Court, Worcestershire. He came to New Zealand in 1845 and finally settled at Oeo, Taranaki. In 1882 a cousin in England apparently wrote to Thomas regarding the possibility of emigrating with his family to New Zealand. Thomas suggested his cousin send out one of his sons on an exploratory tour of the country. Samuel Clarke Good made the trip during 1883-1884. Quantity: 1 folder(s).
