Description: Reproduction of an early photograph, probably a book illustration, showing the early Provincial Government Buildings (on the site of the present Parliamentary Library), used as Wellington's first Parliament buildings, also used as the Supreme Court, built 1857 and replaced in 1899 by the General Assembly Library. The view is from Molesworth Street. It shows a paling fence running up the hill to the left of the building, which is mostly single-storied, with gable windows along its front facade. Possibly a reversed version of a photograph by G H Swan, 'Provincial Council building, Wellington, ca 1859'.
